Terms of payment
The fare evasion ticket has to be paid within a maximum of 14 days from the date you received it, unless you have filed a written complaint. If you file a complaint after 14 days, your complaint will not be processed.

Can I be granted a discount?
The price of the fare evasion ticket is fixed. There are no reductions for students, pensioners or similar groups.

How do I pay the fare evasion ticket?
You can pay at a post office, in a bank or via internet banking. Use the paying-in slip which you have received from the Metro Steward. If you have lost the paying-in slip, you should contact Customer Services.

Payment by instalments
If you are not able to pay the fare evasion ticket in full, we can arrange an instalment plan. In this way, you can pay smaller sums over a fixed period of time. In order to do this, you need to call Customer Services.

I had forgotten to punch the card

It is the passengers' resonsibility to ensure that you have a valid card for the entire journey. This includes that the card is correctly punched.

It is very annoying to receive a fare evasion ticket because you have forgotten to punch the card. But the metro staff cannot interpret whether it is a case of fraud or forgetfulness.

A receipt is not valid as a ticket. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid ticket which you can present to the metro staff on demand.

The ticket machines write out the ticket first, then the receipt.

I found my valid ticket after I received a fare evasion ticket

As a passenger it is your responsibility to be able to present a valid ticket when asked to do so. If this is not possibel, you will receive a fare evastion ticket. It is not possible to present a valid ticket afterwards unless the ticket carries your picture, as it is the case with a period card.

Did you forget to renew your period card?

If you forgot to renew your period card, you can have the fare evasion ticket reduced to 100 kroner. In order to do so it is required that the fare evasion ticket was written out the day after the period card ran out, and that the card is renewed the very day you received the fare evasion ticket.

Send us a copy of the period card within a maximum of 14 days after the fare evasion ticket was written out. Either by post or by using the complaint form.

My period card was confiscated by the metro staff

Your period card was confiscated by the metro staff. The reason could be:

  • The numbers on the information card and the period card are not the same
  • The picture of you was not fixed
  • It looked like alterations had been made to the card

After the confiscation the period card has been turned in to the Metro Customer Service, who will send the period card to the person who is registered with that card.

You have to ensure that you have received a sms ticket on your mobile phone before you get on the metro train.

Jeg har klaget over en kontrolafgift men fik ikke medhold

I have filed a written complaint but the ruling went against me. What do I do?

There is an independent board of appeal for buses, trains and the Metro (“Ankenævnet for Bus, Tog og Metro). If you have received a ruling from the Metro Customer Services which you find unjustified, you can send a complaint to the board of appeal.
The board of appeal has its own website where you can read about previous cases (www.abtm.dk/afgørelser). The website is in Danish.
